Wihtin this render competition, we decided to locate ourselves in the bustling-chaotic-layered streets of Chandni Chowk, and gave ourselves the challenge to capture the existing complexity of the area in all its messiness on a digital render, so that we can plant within it a contrasting thought, a constructed aspiration, of what it may be like to dream?

Rendering was already an active discussion, especially now that we’ve been seeing an overload of these almost-pseudo-hyper-realistic renders being done extremely fast and in large numbers. We wanted to figure out if it can do more, and if it can, then how?

What would a render have to be for it to capture not only this emotive quality of the existing… but also showcase the future aspirations along with its bare technicality?

Where and what kind of architecture can be made, such that it attempts to address some sort of a strong dichotomy? For us it became the dichotomy between the past and the future, because that is a very strong emotion by itself, that almost everyone can relate to.

Our intent was to convey a relatable dichotomy prevalent throughout South Asia, of an imagination, of a dream, while still producing a visually impactful render that is translated in the poem below.

i'm stuck. stuck here. people of money, want something present something.

but how much one receives for how much, "the market" decides. my ass!

baba's life was spent in this circus. within these blury-noisy-sweaty lanes of chitchats. not mine!

I'm going to rise above this. float over it.

not just be another hand in this faceless exchange.

but a hand of creation. creation of meaning

an identity. risen from the very foundation

of baba’s creation

but not limited to!

never limited.

not limited by the “market”

ugh.. no, no, nononono, NO!

not another lonely capitalistic protagonist

not another “soon to be” ass

but something that can support,

from above.

strong, sturdy,  safe, all the S’s

support nature. Not just us and it. But all!

that’s what I will be.
